Academic Reading test – paper

• You will be allowed 1 hour to complete all 3 sections of the IELTS Academic Reading test.
  The three parts of this practice Reading test are presented over three separate web pages. Make sure you move swiftly from one page to the next so that your practice is as realistic as possible.
  
  Time yourself and allow just one hour to complete all three parts. There are 40 questions in this practice paper. Each question carries one mark.
  If you prefer to work offline, download the test paper and blank answer sheet.
  
   Instructions to candidates
  In the actual test you will be given the following instructions:
• do not open this question paper until you are told to do
  
• answer all the questions
• write your answers on the answer sheet,
• use a pencil
  At the end of the test you will be asked to hand in both the question paper and your answer sheet.
  
   General Training Reading test – paper

  Time yourself and allow just one hour to complete all three parts. There are 40 questions in this practice test. Each question carries one mark.

 Procedure of the test
The reading module is the second test you do on the test day. You are given a question booklet and answer sheet. There is no time, unlike in the listening test, at the end to transfer answers so you have to write your answers directly onto answer sheet.

You are given 60 minutes for the test.
The test instructions indicate how much time you should spend on each section of the test.

 Structure of the test
The test is divided into three sections.
You are given a reading passage with questions in each section. The questions can be both before and after the passages.

The topics of the passage are of general interest and come from magazines, journals, books and newspapers. At least one of the passages will present a logical argument.
The texts increase in difficulty as the test progresses. There may be a glossary of technical words.

IELTS - это система стандартизированных тестов, предназначенных для оценки уровня владения английским языком студентами из разных стран (модуль Reading).

Skimming - беглый просмотр - это техника чтения, которая позволяет читающему уловить суть текста без необходимости читать его целиком.

Просматривая текст надо обращать внимание на главы и подзаголовки, даже на первую фразу хорошо написанного абзаца.

Основная цель - получить представление о том, о чем идет речь в тексте.

Scanning - сканирование - это метод быстрого чтения, но он предназначен для нахождения при просмотре текста конкретной информации.

Например: быстро просмотреть текст, чтобы перепроверить дату, число или факт.

Это то же самое, что компьютер делает с функцией “найти”, но вы это делаете сами.

Разница между просмотром и сканированием заключается в цели и технике.

Беглый просмотр - это техника чтения, дает вам представление о том, о чем идет речь в полном тексте.

Сканирование помогаем вам найти конкретную информацию в тексте. Как видите – все понятно!

Есть определенные технологии для отработки этих навыков, некоторые из них мы напишем в группе.
